Becker hated Christmas shopping.

There was absolutely nothing good about it. Last year he’d accidently spent far too much on shoes for Jess. Those same shoes had been completely wrecked during an unfortunate incident at the ARC involving Sid and Nancy. He thought about replacements, but his bank account probably couldn’t take the strain.

Every time Matt started to settle in one place, start to get to know people, his father would pack up and move on again.

They’d been in Cardiff for three months. The newsagent on the corner was starting to recognise Matt when he came in, greet him as a regular. It probably helped that Matt bought almost every different paper in the shop.
